The Association´s Board

The Friends of Viermastbark PEKING e.V. are managed by a board of directors, consisting of the chairman and at least two deputy chairmen.

The board is elected by the general meeting and serves for three years.



Mathias Kahl

Mathias Kahl, Chairman
Born in 1950, son of a captain who began his shipping career as a boat boy at PEKING in 1928 Mathias completed his studies and has been working in the shipping industry for over 41 years, 7 of which in Brazil.
He is a proud Hamburger and is pleased to be able to contribute as chairman of the association "Freunde der Viermastbark PEKING e.V." to the preservation of the four-masted barque PEKING as a cultural heritage for the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg.

Henning Schwarzkopf

Henning Schwarzkopf, Board Member
Born in Hamburg in 1951, he is closely connected as an ocean-going sailor and specialist for maritime law.

His friendship with the former chairman of the New York Yacht Club and board member of the South Street Seaport Museum and their desire to part with PEKING prompted him, together with a handful of like-minded people, to make a return of the four-masted barque possible in years of effort.

Dr. Manuel Cadmus

Dr. Manuel Cadmus, Board Member
The passionate Dragon sailor was born in 1952. After graduating from high school in Hamburg and serving in the German Armed Forces, he studied law in Hamburg and Freiburg, worked as a lawyer and tax consultant, married, 3 children.
His motto is: "PEKING belongs in her home port".

Andreas Bode

Andreas Bode, Board Member and Treasurer
The lawyer and accountant was born in 1950. After finishing school and high school in Hanover and Bielefeld, he completed his legal studies and training in Bielefeld, Göttingen, Hamburg and Sao Paulo. Today he is self-employed in legal and tax consulting in Hamburg. Since his youth, his enthusiasm for deep-sea sailing, aviation and shipping has accompanied him.
